Every morning you are put before the decision of waking up or snoozing the button, staying in your comfortable bed, and sleeping in. How many of you would choose to sleep in? Did you ever think about how many things you are missing out on sleeping in? What are you giving up? I’ll tell you. Everything! Or what are you gaining by sleeping in? What are you accomplishing? Nothing! What can you accomplish in 3 hours before school or work? Did you ever think about it? You can do a full workout. You can read few chapters of your favorite book. You can do so many things before everybody else’s day even has started.

If you do what is easy your life will be hard! But if you do what is hard your life will be easy!

Who would even wake up at 4 am?

If we look at statistics, average millionaires wake up at 4 am. And do you know why? Because they understand the benefits. They are not busy sleeping in, hitting the snooze button multiple times, or making up excuses like ‘I’m too tired.’, ‘I’ve made enough I can sleep in.’, like many of you. How many times have you told yourself these stupid excuses?

Successful people who wake up at 4 am:

  • Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson
  • Oprah Winfrey
  • CEO of Apple Tim Cook
  • CEO of Disney
  • CEO of Avon Angela Cretu
  • CEO of Starbucks

Science behind it

So why do successful people wake up at 4 am? They are aware of our brain's function and the benefits of waking up early.

Gateway to your subconscious mind

When you’re first awake, your brain cooperates at around 10.5 waves per second. The range from 8 to 13 Hz or cycles per second is the alpha stage. When you wake up this early, you are between theta and alpha. The mind is capable of deep learning. You don’t have to work as hard and it's easier to stay focused. At this time your brain soaks information like a sponge. Whatever you see, hear in the first 20 minutes will affect you. That’s why you should, in your first 20 minutes mediate, listen to the affirmation. This time is the best time to rewire your subconscious mind. The most important thing is not to check your social media right after you wake up. It is the most distracting thing in the morning.

Me-time

Is there an even better time you could give to yourself and take advantage of it to self-develop than this early when everybody else is asleep in their comfortable beds? When you wake up this early, there are no distractions or noises. Nothing. All you can focus on is yourself and growing your potential to the maximum.

You get so much work done.

Do you have time during the day to read or to work out, or do anything you desire to do? If we look at it, when you wake up at 4 am, you got 3 hours before you have to do other things like getting ready for school or a job. Did you realize how many things you can accomplish during this time? Elon Musk, Lebron James, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, or Jeff Bezos have 24 hours, and you also have 24 hours. The difference between them and you is they know the value of time.

Get the most regenerative sleep.

Waking up early goes hand in hand with going to bed early. The most regenerative and deep sleep you get between 10 pm and 2 am. That’s why you feel tired even after sleeping, for example, 9 hours but after getting to bed after 10 pm. Study shows that if you go to sleep after 10 pm it is more difficult for you to fall to sleep, you don’t enjoy sleep that much and you will not get high-quality sleep. By getting to bed before 10 pm you allow your system to go through its natural neurochemistry.

How to change your sleep schedule?

Try to get to bed and waking up every day 15–30 minutes earlier than the previous day and do this until you hit 10 pm and 4 am or your personal goal. If you want to accomplish anything you want and make sure you know your ‘why,’ you won't even need an alarm. You have to make sure you have a clear image of why you are doing it. There will be NOTHING that could stop you.

Try to wake up just for one day at 4 am and pay attention to how many things you have accomplished. After that, wake up only one more day at 4 am and then the day after and in the end make a habit out of it. Challenge yourself.

Comfortable bed or successful life? Your choice. Choose wisely.

It will take high-level discipline because there will always be that little annoying voice in your head that will say, ‘You’ve done enough, take some rest,’ ‘You don’t need to wake up sleep in.’ It is our choice to beat it every day. You have to get out of your comfort zone and make hard choices and things no one want to do. Like waking up at 4 am.

You will thank yourself one day.

Finally, I believe in you! I hope this will help you in your growth path.
